WPPD to host second round of helmet giveaways

Christmas has come and gone, but the gifts received have a ways to go. If a bike somehow finagled its way under a Christmas tree with a child’s name inscribed on an attached tag, but without a handy bicycle helmet, then good news is afoot. Beginning at 9 a.m. and pushing through to 2 p.m. Saturday, the West Point Police Department will host its second bicycle helmet giveaway in front of the department headquarters.

Where can children turn when they have suffered abuse? How can they begin to deal with the emotional, physical and legal repercussions of their traumatic experience? In Mississippi, these children can turn to local Children’s Advocacy Centers (CACs) which operate under the umbrella of Children’s Advocacy Center of Mississippi (CACM). Sally Kate Winters Family Services is a licensed CAC and offers therapeutic care for victimized children.
