At least, thatâ€™s how West Point Mayor Robbie Robinson feels about the cityâ€™s latest endeavor to apply for a Mississippi Development Authority HOME grant. The grant, which would be the cityâ€™s first if awarded, seeks to take substandard housing with serious deficiencies in electrical wiring, heating, roofing, plumbing and foundation and start fresh.

West Point resident Omari Powe is set to plead guilty to misdemeanor telephone harassment in the West Point Municipal Court after a motion by the state to reduce a felony false report of a bomb charge.
In late 2012, according to a previous article printed in the Daily Times Leader, a bomb threat was phoned in at the local Walmart Supercenter. After investigative efforts on behalf of the West Point Police Department, a suspect was named and arrested in connection to the alleged threat.
