Workforce advancement resources available at Bryan Public Library

The public library has always been the place to go to glean information. With the onset of the electronic age the Bryan Public Library is no longer contained just in the brick and mortar building, patrons with a library card can access a world of information through the Tombigbee Regional Library System website. The site is interfaced with libraries all over the state of Mississippi, according to TRLS Director, Tanna Taylor.

It’s the start of a new year for the West Point School District Board, which brought with it the first school board meeting. Board members convened at 5:30 p.m. Monday to discuss a light agenda and also allotted a fragment of time for Central School (CS) Superintendent Wynesther Cousins to provide to the board the ins and outs of the last year, along with thoughts and expectations for 2014.
“We see great results with what we have in place,” Cousins said.

A long-standing West Point business is shifting ownership for the third time since its inception in 1906. Heather and Andrew Lawrence of Georgia recently purchased Calvert Funeral Home located at 1400 E. Main St. in West Point from long-time owner Scotty Allen.
