Both Jimmy Clark and Charles Collins picked up additional votes Wednesday during the vote certification meeting at City Hall, but the final, certified tally shows that Clark will indeed lead Ward 3 over the next four years.

May 21st
Barring a challenge from Ward 3 incumbent Charles Collins, Jimmy Clark is the new representative for the ward, which was the only one that required a runoff after the May 7 municipal elections.
When the first electronic ballots were counted, Collins led Clark by 19 with a 312 to 291 count.
Clark’s strength proved to be in the absentee voting, where he garnered enough support to take the election by 52 votes.
“I am elated for this trust to be put in me,” Clark said after the win. “I feel that with a new mayor and a new board, the good days for West Point are ahead.”
The city of West Point is asking a federal judge to preclude West Point resident Natalie Stafford from testifying about events that happened at Old Waverly, which Stafford says led to her son’s automobile accident in 2010.

An attempt Monday to stop today’s municipal runoff election was denied by a federal judge, who heard testimony from Ward 5 Selectman Jasper Pittman and other parties involved in a lawsuit Pittman and four other citizens filed Friday.

Felix Vail has been dubbed a “suspected serial killer.”
Three women who were either married to Vail or were closely associated with him have either died or vanished under suspicious circumstances.

The battle for West Point’s Ward 3 Selectman post continues today at the Civic.
Polls open at 7 a.m. this morning, and voters from that Ward will vote until 7 p.m. tonight to chose who will fill the seat starting this summer.
Incumbent Charles Collins, Jimmy Clark and Ken Poole began as the three candidates vying for the seat during the May 7 municipal primary.
All three are Democrats.
Poole was eliminated in the initial run, leaving Clark and Collins in a runoff.

Ward 5 Selectman Jasper Pittman has officially filed a motion in court, challenging the May 7, 2013 municipal elections in West Point.
News station WCBI out of Columbus broke the story this evening that Pittman, along with Chiketa Young, Larry Stevenson, Kiara Lane and Annie Cattledge had filed two motions.
The first challenges the May 7, win of West Point business owner Gary Dedeauz over Pittman in the Ward 5 race, alleging that the election was not handled properly.
May 17th
Voters of District 4 were hoping to learn Friday who their new election commissioner would be, but the Clay County Board of Supervisors opted to postpone the appointment until a later date.
