Residents propose ‘Bark Park’ for pets

Dog lovers in West Point could have something new to look forward to in the form of a new dog park if a group of residents have their way. West Point resident Sherry Jeffcoat said she had recently circulated a petition with about 100 signatures and growing to show community support for a “Bark Park” similar to those found in Starkville, Columbus and Tupelo. It’s an amenity she said was sorely needed in West Point.

Daily Times Leader welcomes new staff

There have been big changes at the Daily Times Leader this month.

The five-day daily has welcomed new Managing Editor Mary Garrison to lead the newspaper staff, which added Kate Moser as its general assignment reporter on Monday.

“I'm excited about the potential of both Daily Times Leader and the West Point community,” Garrison said. “I'm looking forward to getting to know this community and becoming a part of it, as well.”
