Burglary suspect collapses; coroner cites heart condition

At about 10 p.m. Thursday, West Point police officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Griffin Street in reference to a man attempting to break into an occupied dwelling. 911 dispatchers initially reported to officers the man had a gun. Upon arrival officers discovered a man, later identified as 34 year old Silvio Prater, outside of the residence and immediately detained him for questioning. According to WPPD Chief of Investigations Albert Lee, reports that Prater possessed a firearm were later deemed untrue.
