The Clay County chapter of the United Way is set to host its Campaign Kickoff Luncheon noon Oct. 24 at the Civic.
Bobby Cole, local author of The Dummy Line and Moon Underfoot, will be the keynote speaker at the luncheon.
United Way raises and allocates funds for 14 human service organizations serving the residents of Clay County. Stacy Hays, executive director of United Way of Clay County, explained that these agencies touch the lives of thousands of people each year.

If one happens to stroll by the West Point Police Department Saturday morning, he or she might notice something amiss taking place in the parking lot for all to see.

Previous occupant of the position, Ron Maloney, was part of the collective which assisted in bringing about the Yokohama Tire Manufacturing Plant to boost West Pointâ€™s industrial presence on the national stage. However, Maloney recently accepted a position in his hometown of Pennsylvania.
