On Monday, the Clay County Democratic Party Executive Committee will know for certain which candidates hoping to run for office in Clay County will be placed on the ballot.
Pat Cannon, chair of the DPEC, said almost everyone is “OK,” but still needs information from a couple of candidate, including Harold Lathon, who qualified to run for chancery clerk.
West Point and Clay County has always had an abundance of farmers, whether they're raising cattle, managing timber, raising swine or growing fruits and vegetables. Many livestock and timber farmers in the area are able to make great profits off of what they grow, but some fruit and vegetable farmers are having a tougher time selling their organic crops, despite the fact that many people prefer those crops to the frozen fruits and veggies sold at local store.
Time and time again, the West Point and Clay County community has poured out their love and support for a man who strives to put the well-being of people in Clay County at the top of his list of services he provides as sheriff of Clay County: Mr. Laddie Huffman.
Huffman's strong belief in helping people in the community as sheriff and caring about their needs are just some of the reasons he's been reelected for the office of sheriff more than any other sheriff in the county and is why he's served as Clay County sheriff for 20 years.
