January 28th
During the 2011 Mississippi Association of Superintendents/Alliance Winter Conference held in Jackson this week, Steve Montgomery, West Point School District Superintendent, said the new Educator Code of Ethics was discussed, and Montgomery said he's all for it.
The Educator Code of Ethics, approved by the Mississippi State Board of Education last Friday,
requires teachers to adhere to a set of principals developed to safeguard students from improper conduct from teachers.
Neel-Schaffer, an engineering firm based out of Jackson, was selected Thursday by the Clay County Board of Supervisors to provide the county with engineering services for the county's energy efficiency project.
The county was recently awarded an Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant through the Mississippi Development Authority for $52,331. With these funds, lighting retrofitting will be done to the Clay County Health Department, the Clay County Courthouse and the Justice Court Building. Out of the grant, $4,120 will go towards the engineering services.
January 9th
Due to the recent winter storm, Circut Court will not be held on Monday. Also, the Clay County Courthouse will be closed on Monday.
West Point schools will be closed on Monday, and there will be no West Point School Board meeting on Monday night.
