Veto upheld at city board meeting; Shelter decision delayed

August 11, 2010

Two major actions highlighted Tuesday night's meeting of West Point's Mayor and Selectmen.
Near the end of the two-hour meeting, the board went into executive session to discuss personnel matters, where the board majority attempted to overturn a veto by Mayor Scott Ross that reinstated Electric Department Superintendent Dwight Prisock and City Administrator Randy Jones.
Prisock and Jones were fired by the board at its regular July meeting, by a vote of 3-2 with selectmen Homer Cannon, Jasper Pittman and Charles Collins voting for the duo's dismissals.
