Sometime in the next two weeks, Magen Tapley is going to walk off the softball field for the final time as a Hebron Christian Lady Eagle.
She is one of seven seniors who will be leaving the team this year. For Magen Tapley, the trip off the diamond might be a little more emotional. There may be a few extra tears when she looks back on the opportunity she’s had.
A middle infielder, Magen has had the chance to not only play behind her sister, Chloe, who is Hebron’s starting pitcher, but she has learned a lot of what she knows about softball from her father.

Things are looking up for the Oak Hill Academy Raiders (1-4). For the first time this season, the team that started the year with 17 players on its roster, will be going into a game with a win under its belt.
This game, which features Carroll Academy (2-2) here in West Point will be the Raiders’ first look at conference play in 2010.
Carroll has had a good offense at times this season, but they have struggled defensively. This could prove to be a difference maker when it comes to tonight’s game.

Lady Eagles set to end regular season today

September 22, 2010

The best may be yet to come for the Hebron Christian School Diamond Eagles (21-9; 8-0). That’s hard to believe considering the season they have had thus far.
Today they appear in the standings with just nine losses. Each one of those, hard fought games against tough non-conference opponents.
In the conference, which boasts competition like Kemper, Winona, Calhoun and Central, the Lady Raiders are unbeaten, and they will go into the post-season unbeaten in district play.
They played their final district match last week at Calhoun, ending the conference season with a 19-0 win.

USSSA tourney highlights Parks activities

September 22, 2010

West Point kids are about to be enjoying America’s new sport in soccer. They are also going to be hitting the gridiron pretty soon, as peewee football and youth soccer began practicing this week in a season set to start at the first of October.
That being said, the West Point Parks and Recreation Department has a number of big things happening, some as soon as this weekend, and others throughout the the 2010-2011 school year.
The most pertinent is this weekend’s USSSA baseball tournament that will take place at the sportsplex this Saturday.
