Thousands of dollars are being saved by the city of West Point with the use of propane auto gas in its police vehicles instead of gasoline, which is benefitting the environment and helping the city's economy.
The announcement came Wednesday about the conversion of eight 2009 West Point police cruisers from gasoline to bi-fuel propane from police chief Bobby Lane, assistant chief Avery Cook, mayor Scott Ross and Mark Denton, vice president of business development for Alliance AutoGas.
Shayne McClure, 48, passed away, on Sunday, June 5, 2011 at the North MS Medical Center,

Bryan Foods a number of years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Shayne McClure married Cynthia
Genevieve Elkins on December 6, 1986, in West Point.
Scott Moore, age 42, of Macon, died Monday June 6, 2011 at Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle in Columbus.
Funeral services are Thursday, June 9, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Macon. Interment will be in Moore Cemetery near Macon. Visitation is today, at Cockrell Funeral Home in Macon, from 6 - 8 p.m.

John "Johnny" Bush

David Winfield, age 68, passed away, Saturday, June 4, 2011, at the North MS Medical Center, in West Point.
David Winfield was born June 2, 1943, in the Waddell Community of Clay County to the late Lena Mae Langford Winfield and George Alexander Winfield. Mr. Winfield was a Former Supervisor of District 5 Clay County for 24 years. He was of
the Baptist Faith. David Winfield married Peggy Compton Winfield on August 3, 1963, in Cedar Bluff at her parents home.
Thomas Leroy Stone
Thomas Leroy Stone, age 75, passed away, Saturday, June 4, 2011, at the North Mississippi Medical Center, in West Point. Thomas Leroy Stone was born June 11, 1935, in to the late Florence Mixon Stone and William Travis Stone, Sr.
He was a truck driver. Mr. Stone attended the Baptist Church. He had served in the Mississippi Army National Guard several years. Thomas Leroy Stone was married to Dorothy Ereline Miller Stone who preceded him in death October 26, 2010.
Beverly Karen Fairley, age 58, of West Point, Miss., passed away Saturday, June 4, 2011, at her residence.
Beverly Karen Fairley was born Nov. 15, 1952, in Indianola, Miss., to the late Cora Matheny and Walter Fairley. She worked for the Department of Human Services. She loved visiting with friends and family and she was affectionately called Grammy by her grandchildren.
Funeral services are today, Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeff Shannon officiating. Burial will follow in Palo Alto Cemetery in Clay County.
Delma Lucille Snyder Cliett
Delma Lucille Snyder Cliett, age 91, of Starkville, Miss., passed away at Starkville Manor Nursing Home on Saturday, June 4, 2011. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church .
Mrs. Cliett was preceded in death by her husband, James Russell Cliett, and a daughter, Ann Cliett Palmer.
Mrs. Cliett is survived by her granddaughters: Dr. Kimberly Ray of Madison, Miss.; and Kelley Black of Louisville, Miss.; grandsons, Russ Palmer of Starkville, Miss.; and Brian Palmer of Huntsville, Ala.; 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
48-year-old Michael â€śShaneâ€ť McClure died Saturday night after allegedly being shot by his father, 69-year-old Walter Raymond McClure.
On Saturday around 11:22 p.m., West Point police officers were dispatched to the subdivision near Converse Dr. in West Point in reference to gunshots that were fired. Upon their arrival, officers encountered Michael McClure sprawled out across the driveway of 507 Converse Dr. with Walter McClure laying on top of him, according to Mike Burgess, head of investigations for the West Point Police Department.
One of Clay Countyâ€™s longest-serving elected officials passed away unexpectedly on Saturday afternoon.
David Winfield, who was running for the supervisorâ€™s seat in District 5, a seat he held for more than 20 years, died Saturday from what was believed to be a heart attack.
