Sharon Lee Edward, age 56, passed away Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, at her home.
Funeral services are Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at 11 a.m. from Union Star M.B. Church with the Rev. Vernon Swift officiating. Burial will follow in Union Star M.B. Church Cemetery.
Visitation is today from 3 â€“ 6 p.m. at Carter's Mortuary Services Chapel.
Carter's Mortuary Services is in charge of arrangements.
Inez Coggins Bock
Inez Bock, age 85, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010, at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point. Mrs. Bock was born Mar. 12, 1925, to the late Ruby Parish and J.G. Coggins. She enjoyed cooking, hunting, and fishing and spending time with her family.
Funeral services are today, Friday, Nov. 12, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Robinson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Towery and the Rev. R.C. Bryan officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation is today from noon - 2 p.m. at Robinson Funeral Home.

It always seems the high school football season flies by. Just a little less than 12 weeks ago, the West Point Green Wave football team was getting ready to kickoff the season, at home, against Shannon.
Today, the Green Wave are done with the regular season, and they are preparing to push on into the playoffs to defend the state title they won a year ago.

The Oak Hill Academy hoops teams have been busy this week.
Coming off a solid Indianola Tournament, the Lady Raiders returned to the court this week to take on Lamar on Tuesday night and Kirk last night.
The boys team got its first action on the floor against Lamar on Tuesday, and both teams will be looking to finish the week off strong, as they will hit the hard wood tonight, at home, against Immanuel.
The seventh grade boys team will tip things off for the evening at 4 p.m.
Hebron seventh grade hoops player Jacob Robertson helps the junior high Eagles get off to a winning start on Tuesday night against Starkville Christian. They will be back in action on Tuesday against Regents.

Florence Davis Jernigan
Florence Davis Jernigan, age 96, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010, at the Dugan Nursing Home in West Point.
She was born Sept. 18, 1914, in Counce, Tenn., to Winfred and Nora Blakney Davis. She married Wayne Jernigan of Okolona, in 1936. An accomplished homemaker, seamstress and cook, she had a true servants heart and used these talents to minister to others. Mrs. Jernigan was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Okolona where she served as a leader in the Womenâ€™s Missionary Union and Girlsâ€™ Auxillary, taught Sunday School, and sang in the choir.
Julia Elsie Ellis
Julia Elsie Ellis, age 93, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010, at her home in Lexington.
Julia Elsie Ellis was born Sept. 9, 1917, in Holmes County, to Harry and Grantham Etta Eubanks. She was a seamstress employed with Henson Kickernick and a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.
Visitation is 11 a.m. until service time at the church.

Hebron boys basketball coach Greg Watkins said before the season started that his teamâ€™s offense was going to revolve around Carlton Clay and Chad Smith. On Tuesday night, the boys opened at home against Starkville Christian Academy, and Clay and Smith combined for 49 points on the night, leading the Eagles to a season opener 64-51 victory over the Volunteers.
â€śThey came out kind of flat,â€ť said head coach Greg Watkins of the Eagles. â€śI think we rattled off something like seven unanswered points after they went up 6-0.â€ť
