Local Investigator Qualifies For Ward 3

February 25, 2013

Constituents of Ward 3 in West Point now have one more candidate to consider voting for in the May 7 Primary Election for elected municipal offices in the city of West Point.
Just last week Ken Poole, investigator with the West Point Police Department, declared his intention at City Hall to run for the office of Ward 3 selectman as a democratic candidate. Two other individuals declared their intent several weeks ago to run for the post, including Jimmy Clark and incumbent Charles Collins.

Marie Martin age 96, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at her home.
Marie Martin was born December 18, 2013, in Marietta, to Henry Edwards Mills and Oma Lee Evans. She
retired from Franklin Furniture Factory as an instructor seamstress. She was of the Baptist faith.
Funeral services were Saturday, February 23, 2013, at 1 p.m. from Southern Funeral Chapel in Houston with Bro. Ben Yarber officiating. Burial followed in Arbor Grove Cemetery.

William Deandrea Temple

William Deandrea Temple age 30, passed away Friday, February 15, 2013, in Minot, N.D.
Funeral services were, Friday, February 22, 2013, at 1 p.m. from Northside Christian Church of God with Bishop William Golden officiating. Burial followed in Greenwood Cemetery.
Carter’s Mortuary Services was in charge of arrangements.

Baseball sign-up through Thursday

Walter Vance age 57, passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point.
Funeral services were Saturday, February 23, 2013, at noon from Payne Chapel M.B. Church with the Rev. Bobby Bowens officiating. Burial followed in Lake Grove M.B. Church Cemetery.
Carter’s Mortuary Services was in charge of arrangements.

Summerall: Reality is relative

With the marvelous insanity brought on by reality television, (I personally think the phrase is an oxymoron) it was bound to open the field to the eccentric among us. From people who spend 40 days in a remote location trying to survive on rice, coconuts and whatever food they can win in challenges. (I’m sorry. This is not surviving, this is The Price is Right.) Or racing around the world jumping out of airplanes and eating a plateful of squid that is not only still moving but looking at you. None of this resembles reality.

Pilot helps special needs children

The West Point Pilot Club recently presented a check to the CCARC to help purchase classroom supplies for the special needs children served by them.
