Hats and caps against bullying

February 28, 2013

West Point High School is continuing its anti-bullying message by letting the students wear hats and caps Thursday. Charlie Sawyer age 70, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point.
Funeral services are Saturday, March 2, 2013, at 11 a.m. from Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Culpepper officiating.
Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation is today, Friday, March 1, 2013, fro 3 – 6 p.m. at Carter’s Mortuary Services Chapel.
Carter’s Mortuary Services is in charge of arrangements.

Arleder Clark-Christian age 91, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2013, at her home in Chicago, Ill.
Funeral services were Thursday, February 29, 2013, in Chicago, Ill.
Visitation is Saturday, March 2, 2013, from 1 – 3 p.m. at Carter’s Mortuary Services Chapel. Burial will follow the visitation in Johnson Creek M.B. Church Cemetery.

Arts Council debuts t-shirts for Art Walk

Pilot Club to host Legends Concert tomorrow night

Hundreds of Clay County children file into the Bryan Public Library each week of every summer to witness an educational program.
Whether it be music, reading or the annual visit from the “snake man” these kids have the benefit of learning new things even when school is not in session.
The Pilot Club of West Point supports the Summer Reading Program financially, and it is time for the club’s biggest fundraising event of the year.
The 8th Annual Legends Concert will take place on tomorrow night at the Mary Holmes Campus Gym.

Moore: Healthcare ‘complicated’

The future of Mississippi’s health care is not certain.
It’s an issue that has many facets, and everyone will likely be affected by the Affordable Healthcare Act whether it be negative or positive.
Tim Moore, Vice President for Community Hospitals with the North Mississippi Health Services attempted to shed some light on the impact of AFA and the issue of Medicaid expansion at the Thursday meeting of the West Point Rotary Club.
“When we talk about Medicaid expansion and the ways that hospitals are funded, it’s a very complicated matter,” Moore began.
