Ella Mae Moore

June 5, 2013

Ella Mae Moore of West Point, 80, died Saturday, June 1, 2013 at West Point Community Living Center.
She was a member of Mt. Pisgah Waverly M.B. Church. Services are Saturday, June 8, 2013, at 9 a.m. at Mt. Pisgah Waverly M.B. Church in West Point. Burial will follow in Lee Cemetery.
Belle Memorial Funeral Home of Aberdeen is in charge of arrangements.

Bettie Webber age 91, died May 30, 2013, at her home in West Point.
Funeral services are Friday, June 7, 2013 at 11 a.m. from Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Johnnie Buckner officiating. Burial will follow in the Tibbee Cemetery.
Visitation is today, Thursday, June 6, 2013, from 3 – 6 p.m. at the Carter’s Mortuary Services Chapel.
Carter’s Mortuary Services is in charge of the arrangements.

Inky clowns around the library

June 5, 2013

Ladies and gentlemen and children of all ages squeezed into the Esther Pippen Room of the Bryan Public Library to spend the afternoon with Inky the Clown. Inky kept everyone oooing and ahhing (mainly because he had everyone say it on cue) during the opening act of the Summer Reading Program; Dig into Reading! Inky is a favorite of the library with magic, jokes, juggling, balloon animals and good clean fun for everyone.

Floyd brings Deception to Luncheon with Books

Brandon resident and Mississippi State University graduate John M. Floyd will sign copies of his latest mystery/suspense short story collection, “Deception” (Dogwood Press, 2013), at the Bryan Public Library Thursday, June 6, at noon. First-edition, signed copies will be available for $24.95 plus tax.

Brenda Andrews Thrash

Brenda Andrews Thrash, 50, passed away, June 2, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point.
Brenda was born February 2, 1963, in West Point, to Melba Nell Wilson Andrews and Melvin Andrews. She was a cafeteria worker in the public school system for 12 years and was a Baptist.
Funeral services are Thursday, June 6, 2013, at 2 p.m. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. John Sevier officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Garden Cemetery in West Point.
Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.

Bulldogs win Starkville Regional – Headed to Charlottesville Super Regional to take on #6 Wahoos

The Diamond Dawgs struck early and often in the elimination Championship Game of the Starkville Regional Monday night, defeating the feisty Central Arkansas Bears by a score of 6-1 to claim the championship and advance to the Super Regionals. With the victory, the 9th ranked Bulldogs (46-18) will now advance to Charlottesville, Virginia, to face the #6 national seed University of Virginia Cavaliers (50-10).
