Ellen Randle age 81, died June 24, 2013, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point.
Funeral services are Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Lake Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Joe P. Orr officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation is today, Tuesday, July 2, 2013, from 3-6 p.m. at Carter’s Mortuary Services Chapel.
Carter’s Mortuary Services is in charge of the arrangements.

.Douglas R. “Buddy” Griggs

July 1, 2013

Douglas R. “Buddy” Griggs, 65, passed away Friday, June 28, 2013 at USA Medical Center, in Mobile, AL.
He was born January 20, 1948, in Monroe County, to the late Odele Garrett Griggs and Rufus Woodrow Griggs. Buddy was a member of First United Methodist Church and was presently attending Strong United Methodist Church where he grew up. He graduated from Aberdeen High School. Buddy started Griggs Car Quest in August, 1977. He enjoyed his farm working with his cattle and was an avid duck hunter and fisherman.

New City Board sworn in

County working to acquire more courthouse parking

The Clay County Board of Supervisors recognizes the need for more parking for people needing to visit the Clay County Courthouse. And Thursday the board took the next step in trying to acquire property adjacent to the Courthouse to reconstruct into a new parking lot.
