Many Mississippi State football fans possibly did not expect a 6-6 record coming during the 2013 football season.
Possibly these fans were still inebriated by the success of baseball Head Coach John Cohen and the Diamond Dogs finishing second place to the UCLA Bruins at the College World Series in June, or maybe the eight-win season in 2012 gave the Bulldog faithful a new outlook on life. Either way, not many State fans thought the Bulldogs would be fighting for bowl eligibility in the final two weeks of the regular season.

STARKVILLE — Senior point guard A.J. Jones led West Point with a team-high 22 points, including a 14 of 17 shooting performance from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter, and the Wave (3-1) defeated the Aberdeen Bulldogs (1-2), 66-62, in a MHSAA non-district basketball contest Saturday at the Starkville High School Thanksgiving Classic.
“It was a pretty tough game,” Jones said. “They were fouling and playing real aggressive so we had to step up to the line and make our free throws to win the game.”
