OLIVE BRANCH â Demontae Rush carried 20 times for 246 yards, Dason Thomas tossed four touchdown passes and the West Point Green Wave (8-4; 5-2 District 1-5A) won a shoot-out over the Lewisburg Patriots, 65-51, in a Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) District 1-5A game Thursday night at Lewisburg High School.
Robert L. "Bob" Reese, Sr., age 77, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014,, at his residence in Orange Beach, Ala.
Bobby Foster passed away Tuesday Nov. 4, 2014, at Duke University Hospital in Durham, S.C.
Complete funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date by Robinson Funeral Home.

A routine can mean everything for a football team, especially when preparing for a district game during the season.
Monday and Tuesday are usually the toughest practices of the week followed by Wednesday, which is usually gearing down for a Thursday walk-through.
Four preparation days toward a game is typically the allotted time frame for high school football teams. However, the West Point Green Wave is not getting that luxury this week.

Northside Christian Church is hosting its annual Harvest Festival at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Mary Holmes College Auditorium in West Point. Northside Christian Church has sponsored the festival for more than 10 years, according to Dorothy Ryland, coordinator for the event.

JACKSON â Mississippi voters on Tuesday re-elected Republican Sen. Thad Cochran and all four incumbent congressmen.
Cochran, 76, said he intends to serve the entire six-year term. With Republicans taking over the Senate, he could become a committee chairman. He is a former Appropriations chairman, and has steered billions of dollars to the state for hurricane recovery, university research and other projects.

The dust has settled from the November general election, and Clay County voters cast their ballots in several statewide and local elections Tuesday.
Local voters had the opportunity to elect two members to the new West Point Consolidated School District Board. The State of Mississippi passed legislation to consolidate the West Point and Clay County School Districts in 2013.
Robert L. âBobâ Reese Sr., age 77, of Orange Beach, Ala. and formerly of West Point, passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2014, at his home in Orange Beach, Ala.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be announced at a later date by Calvert Funeral Home.

A senior-laden team can be a blessing and a curse.
The West Point Green Wave is learning about this double-edged sword as a new basketball season is quickly approaching.
Last seasonâs starting five, which had played together for two years, had a strong run through the regular season and the postseason. Juan Davis, Tre Williams, Demarius Calvert, A.J. Jones and Diquan Ewing became household names throughout the city and Golden Triangle.

The holiday season is rapidly approaching, and West Point businesses are more than ready.
West Point's annual Christmas open house will be held from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, and West Point Clay County Growth Alliance Director Lisa Klutts said the open house would feature plenty of old favorites, as well as a few new surprises.
