Bobby Dean Strong Sr., age 69, passed away Friday, June 14, 2014, at North Mississippi Medical Center of Tupelo.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Friday, June 20, 2014, at Third Mt. Olive M.B. Church with Rev. Bobby Bowen officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

An independent film shot primarily in West Point will make its debut at 7:30 p.m. today at the Malco Theater in Tupelo.
In Glenn Payneâ€™s sci-fi thriller â€śEarthrise,â€ť 99 percent of the human race lives on Mars, while the remaining few work to rehabilitate an Earth that has been ruined.
â€śEarthriseâ€ť was filmed over two weeks in the late winter of 2013 in West Point. Most of the shooting was done at an old dance studio on Broad Street across from the Clay County Co-op, with additional shooting at the Bryan Foods factory.

Old Waverly Golf Club, one of the Southâ€™s premier golf destinations located in West Point, will become the new home to Mississippi State menâ€™s and womenâ€™s varsity golf programs, the MSU Athletic Department announced Wednesday.
The Bulldog Club, the private fundraising arm of the Mississippi State Athletics, has partnered with Old Waverly on the $2.2 million project that includes a driving range, short-game area, putting green, plus a team clubhouse and indoor hitting bays. More than $1.3 million has been raised thus far.

MAYHEW â€” A critical component in providing a top-notch education is having the facilities to do so.
That was Golden Triangle Development LINK CEO Joe Max Higgins' message at the organization's June luncheon meeting Wednesday at East Mississippi Community College's Mayhew campus.
At the meeting, Higgins outlined new plans to relocate and expand EMCC's Golden Triangle Campus workforce training program center.
The new Center for Manufacturing Technology Excellence (CMTE) building would triple the number of bays from five to 15.
