CCS cancels yard sale to assist in relief efforts

Community Counseling Services will not hold its yard sale, initially scheduled for Friday in the Pass It On parking lot in West Point.
According to Martha Allen Wooten, CCS marketing coordinator, the organization and its participating clients elected to, instead, concentrate efforts toward disaster relief in the Louisville community.

Local arrested for alleged shooting

A West Point resident will be charged with aggravated assault following a Tuesday night shooting.
According to West Point Police Chief of Investigations Albert Lee, about 7 p.m. Tuesday officers responded to a disturbance call at Red Wine Circle in West Point.
“When officers arrived they found a black male with a gunshot wound,” Lee said. “Paramedics arrived and he was taken to North Mississippi Medical Center for treatment.”
Lee said WPPD could not release the name of the victim as of Wednesday, but that the victim is still undergoing treatment.
