Lounette Buchanan Collins, age 90, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at Baptist Memorial Hospital â€“ Columbus.
Funeral services are noon Saturday, May 31, 2014, at Pleasant Plain M.B. Church in Prairie with Rev. Willie K. Orr officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state from 11 a.m. until service time.
Carter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lucien Smith, chief of staff for Gov. Phil Bryant, spoke at the West Point Rotary Clubâ€™s meeting Thursday at the Ritz.
Smith is a member of the Downtown Jackson Rotary and said itâ€™s great to be able to speak at Rotary meetings because his job often keeps him from attending his own clubâ€™s meetings.
Smith, who has family in West Point and Starkville, said he jumps at any chance to visit the Golden Triangle. He spoke on his time as Bryantâ€™s chief of staff, and the improvements he feels Bryant has made in his time as governor.

Members of Northside Christian Church (NCC) and West Point residents are saying good riddance.
This weekend, following the conclusion of regularly scheduled Sunday services, NCC will host its first ever â€śDay of Good Riddanceâ€ť in the parking area of the church at 158 Cotrell St. in West Point.

The Clay County School District will host a public hearing for its proposed 2014-15 budget 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Clay County Courthouse.
A proposed ad valorem tax effort will be considered at this meeting. An ad valorem tax is based on the value of real estate or personal property.
CCSD Business Manager Velma Robinson said the school district has a budget hearing every year, per state law, and any citizen of the CCSD will be able to attend. Attendees will be allowed to speak and offer tangible evidence before any vote is taken.
