WP/CC ‘relays for life’ Friday in SKW park

West Point and Clay County residents came together to raise money for the American Cancer Society (ACS) Friday at the annual Relay for Life event in Sally Kate Winters Park.
The goal for this year’s Relay was $35,000, according to Clay County Relay for Life Co-Chair Debbie Hinshaw. She said she’s confident that, although final figures had not been counted as of Monday, this year’s Relay exceeded the goal.

OHA finalizes coaching staff

Oak Hill Academy is reshuffling its coaches in preparation of girls basketball coach and athletic director Stan Hughey’s departure from the school.
Brian Middleton, who previously coached boys basketball, will begin coaching boys and girls varsity teams, according to OHA Headmaster Yandell Harris.
Harris said OHA originally wanted to find a new girls basketball coach to replace Hughey, but during the search it became apparent that Middleton wanted to take over coaching girls in addition to boys.
