Calvert gets it done in frontcourt

It could be a tough time for senior Demarius Calvert inside the paint as a member of the West Point Green Wave frontcourt.
Yet the undersized, 6-foot-2-inch power forward does not let any problem with a height disadvantage become a decisive factor in his performance on the court.
With an incredible vertical leap and confidence in his personal ability, Calvert has learned to even the playing field against his bigger opponents, continuing to prove many doubters that he belongs with the big guys down low.

One of the better aspects of a brand new year is the tabula rasa (or blank slate) component. Better referred to as a new year’s “resolution,” individuals will set a moment aside to establish a list of dos and don’ts for the next 365 calendar days. Oftentimes weight loss or physique improvements make their ways onto a multitude of resolutions. But it’s more than just making it a resolution, it’s a routine that requires constant effort.

Area highways active, yet safe during holiday

It was a relatively smooth new year as far as illicit activity goes according to county and state law enforcement agencies.
Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott said his department received a “pretty high” volume of calls, but of those none were emergency situations or violent in nature.
“Overall it was pretty good,” said Scott. “There were no major accidents.”
