West Point CTC preparing kids for upcoming job opportunities

West Point School District takes preparing students for future careers in vocational studies seriously, and the Career and Technology Center is doing its part to foster that growth.
Vocational Director Patrick Ray, now in his third year at the CTC, said student achievement is paramount for CTC staff, and the various programs offered have proven successful. So much so that the CTC was the recipient of the 2013 Mississippi Construction Education Foundation/Mississippi Associated Builders and Contractors Center of Excellence Award.

DAR announces Good Citizen winner

The Horseshoe Robertson Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution held its yearly essay contest in December. A representative from each of the West Point and Clay County High Schools competed in the contest for the right to submit their work in the state essay competition for a scholarship from the DAR. The chapter winner was announced at Wednesday’s meeting in the Bryan Public Library.

Yokohama Boulevard terms set

Yokohama Boulevard is paving its way to the beginning of its construction. County officials held a pre-construction conference Thursday in the upstairs courtroom at the Clay County Courthouse, where project managers and contractors focused on what needed to be done before construction commenced.
