Sallie George Wedgeworth Gray

Funeral services for Sallie George Wedgeworth Gray were Saturday, July 13, 2013, at 10 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel in Meridian. There was a private family burial at Oxford Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Cuba, Alabama.
Sallie Wedgeworth Gray died Wednesday, July 10, 2013 in Meridian. She is survived by her daughter, Faye Michel and husband Joey of West Point.
Memorials may be made to 4-H Club Foundation of Mississippi Museum Project, P.O. Box 9601, Miss. State, MS, 39762.

Williams selected as Clarion-Ledger Dandy Dozen

Tuesday at noon, the Clarion-Ledger released their ninth selection of the 2013 edition of the “Dandy Dozen”, that player was West Point’s senior running back Aeris Williams.

No one injured as city truck catches fire

July 16, 2013

A city of West Point meter reader is OK today after the city truck he was driving caught fire Tuesday at a residence on Waverly Road. West Point firemen rushed to the scene and extinguished the fire, which destroyed the front half of the truck. Battalion Chief Ronnie Robinson said the meter reader noticed smoke coming from the truck, stopped and notified 911. Robinson said the exact cause of the fire could not be determined due to the extent of damage, though the fire is believed to have started underneath the hood of the truck. The truck had been used by the city for nearly 30 years.

Warrant issued for Thompson’s arrest

A bench warrant was issued Tuesday for the immediate arrest of Roderick Thompson, who failed to appear in Clay County Circuit Court.
