Judge Finds "Open Carry" Bill Unconstitutional

Hinds County Judge Winston L. Kidd ruled Friday that House Bill 2, which deals with openly carrying weapons, is unconstitutional and would pose great harm to the law enforcement community and the public.
According to Kidd's order granting injunctive relief, no case law exists giving a person an absolute right to openly carry a weapon. Kidd says the language in the Second Amendment, “to keep and bear arms” does not mean a person is allowed to walk the streets, under any circumstances, carrying guns.

Murder Case To Be Heard Monday

A West Point man accused of taking the life of Lawrence Tracy Maxwell is expected to stand trial Monday for the charge of murder in Clay County Circuit Court.

Fluoride Concern Arises Again

The fight to take fluoride out of West Point's water supply is still ongoing, and members of the West Point Board of Mayor and Selectmen listened tentatively Tuesday to the issue concerning fluoride.
West Point residents Chad Scott and Vaughn Blaylock appeared before the board, stating their case that the use of fluoride in the city's drinking water is harming the community's health.

Yokohama announces selection of design firm

FULLERTON, CA (July 11, 2013) – A little over two months ago, Yokohama Tire Corporation (YTC) announced its plan to build a new commercial tire manufacturing plant in West Point, Mississippi. Thursday, the company made public its selection of Kajima Associates/Architects & Engineers, PC (KA/AEPC) of Atlanta, Georgia to design the first phase of the project – a 931,000-square-foot factory that will include production, warehousing and operations facilities.
