Pittman’s scheme an insult to the taxpayers

May 15, 2013

On Tuesday night, some members of the West Point Board of Selectmen crossed that fine line between utter incompetence and gross absurdity.
We’ve seen this board pull some in the past, but Tuesday night’s motion by Ward 5 Selectmen Jasper Pittman, which called for the city to retain an attorney who would be tasked with looking for improprieties in the May 7 election is not only absurd but in this editor’s opinion is an insult to the taxpayers of the community.

Nations: Bring back “Home Run Derby” to television

May 14, 2013

An early Monday morning on the couch led me to flip through the cable box over to ESPN’s Classic channel, seeing that there was not anything currently on besides info-commercials. When I finally flipped over, I was delighted to see the grainy, black and white re-run of the 1960 television show, “Home Run Derby”. In the second episode of the lone syndicated season, the Chicago Cub hall of famer Ernie Banks fell to the legendary New York Yankee Mickey Mantle 5-3.
