Tuesday afternoon the Eagles celebrated Senior Night as Hebron Christian recognized the accomplishments of Diamond Girl Heather Jackson and three baseball seniors, Austin Foster, Ryan Moore, and Will-Corben Rogers.

Sixth-inning collapse dooms Green Wave

April 17, 2013

Tuesday night, West Point was on the road for their final district game of the season in Oxford. The Green Wave jumped out to a 10-2 lead heading into the sixth innings. The Oxford Chargers made an impressive comeback with a seven-run sixth and one-run seventh to send the game into extra innings. In the extra frame, Oxford claimed the game on a wild pitch scoring the walk-off run finishing the comeback over the Green Wave 11-10 in eight innings.

Hebron seniors honored at playoff home game

Hebron Christian recognized their class of 2013 seniors Tuesday afternoon prior to the MAIS opening round playoff game against Tri-County Academy. Three Senior baseball players, along with a Eagle Baseball Diamond Girl, were recognized along side their family and friends on the field. Emily Jones: The best tomatuh in the hood

My neighbor (I’ll call her Brenda for the sake of anonymity) is one of the best things that ever happened to me. She moved into my declining neighborhood and everything changed including my ability to grow good ole summer ‘maters despite a lack of ample sun and a thumb that will only turn green if I spray paint it.

Columbus Choral Society concert coming Sunday

Vance a perfect fit for CASA coordinator

Mary Jean Vance has been a part of the CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) system in Clay County since its inception in the early 1990s.
On Wednesday, Vance was sworn in as Clay’s Volunteer Coordinator for CASA by Judge Tom Storey just before the county’s Drug Court deliberations began.

Gov. Bryant signs sweeping education laws

The four education laws that were signed by Gov. Phil Bryant at Northwest Rankin High School on Wednesday were not as sweeping as most who supported them had originally hoped, but the legislation package represents the biggest changes in public education law since 1982.
