WEST POINT – As hosts of the third event in the Ozark Region’s spring rodeo schedule, the East Mississippi Community College rodeo teams placed fourth in the men’s division and fifth in the women’s competition held this past weekend.

Little Dragon TaeKwonDo School of Martial Arts promoted Tracy Tillman of Tillman’s TaeKwonDo to Master status (5th Degree Black Belt) on March 10, 2013.

Clay County resident Rashaan Ivy, who is accused of shooting a woman in the head, began his defense with substantial dollars to pay a private attorney to help prove his innocence. Those dollars have now run very low, and Ivy and his defense attorney T.K. Moffett is asking Clay County to pay for the rest of Ivy’s defense.

Christopher "Chris" Pete Davis, 66, passed away, on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at North MS
Medical Center, in West Point. Chris was born March 1, 1947 in Cleveland, Mississippi to the late Mary Roncali and Earl
Truman Davis. He was a Butcher/Meat Cutter for Kroger Foods for 32 years and was of Baptist faith. He was a Member
of West Point Masonic Lodge #40 F & A.M. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force having served during the
Vietnam War. Christopher Pete Davis married Betty Sue Brand Davis on July 18, 1971, at the First Baptist Church in
West Point.
Mrs. Wilma Gray Hooker, age 91, died Friday, March 22, 2013 at North MS Medical Center, West Point, Mississippi.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 26, 2013 11:00 a.m. First Baptist Church. Visitation will be Monday, 4:00 until 6 p.m. at Calvert Funeral Home. Burial will follow in West Point Memorial Garden Cemetery. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
