Harold Max Colbert passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013, at his residence in Cedar Bluff at the age of 81. He was born Aug. 11, 1932, in West Point, MS to the late Harold Lee Colbert and Maxine Holmes. He served 20 years in the US Army and retired as a Lt. Colonel and fought in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was also into landscaping and cattle farming.
Johnny Lee Gray, age 75, died Dec. 21, 2013, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at the Carterâ€™s Mortuary Services Chapel, with Pastor Mary Gray-Kyle officiating. Burial will follow in the Tibbee Community Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Dec. 28, one hour prior to the service, at the Carterâ€™s Mortuary Services Chapel.
Carterâ€™s Mortuary Services is in charge of the arrangements.

Representatives for the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality have been making the rounds, spreading the word on potential economic development benefits associated with brownfield assessment and cleanup across the state.
Trey Hess, MDEQ brownfield program coordinator, met with West Point Rotarians recently to let business leaders in on ways taking advantage of assessment grant money could work in their favor, particularly in West Point.

Keeping the roads and highways safe from intoxicated drivers has been a debilitating battle for law enforcement for nothing short of a long time. The nationwide Drive Sober or Get Pulled over campaign has law enforcement on their tippy-toes as they comb the streets for impaired motorists.
