EMCC claims second NJCAA football title

BILOXI — For the second time in three years, East Mississippi Community College wrapped up a perfect season by winning a national championship — topping Georgia Military College 52-32 here at Biloxi Indian Stadium Sunday afternoon in the 2013 Mississippi Bowl.
MACJC State Champion EMCC, which finished 12-0, also won the 2011 NJCAA National Championship with a victory in the El Toro Bowl in Yuma, Ariz.

In Touch Enterprises raided for alleged gambling

The rules facilitating legal gambling operations in the state are strict and concise. And local Internet cafe In Touch Enterprises is now on the receiving end of an investigation being conducted by state tax and gaming offices investigators.
According to Mississippi Gaming Commission Deputy Director Jay McDaniel, it’s another tally on the chalk board for the establishment.
“This is not the first time a search warrant has been executed for (this) establishment,” said McDaniel.

23 Clay County residents earn GEDs

PD revisits auto theft, burglaries

The West Point Police Department is keeping its ears to the ground amidst its hunt for information regarding a string of burglaries spanning from March to April of this year. And without a doubt, March proved to have some heavy-hitters in the underworld.
According to Police Chief of Investigations Albert Lee, officers were dispatched about about 4:31 p.m. March 17 to the 700 block of Progress Street in reference to a possible burglary of a dwelling.
