The city of West Point is giving Comcast only a few more weeks to act on a service contract with the city before the city passes a resolution to remove all of Comcastâ€™s attachments on city-owned utility poles.
Paying only $1.50 per pole is no longer an option and is no longer acceptable to the city, which is now asking Comcast to sign a contract through which Comcast would pay $15 per pole. If Comcast officials donâ€™t act soon the city of West Point is ready to detach all Comcast attachments from city poles and negotiate with other cable and Internet service providers.
Longtime West Point Businessman Mike Garnett, owner of Mike Garnett Enterprises, expressed his opposition Tuesday to the city of West Point charging the minimum set rates for electricity and water services for properties that only need services for a few days.
The Pilot Club of West Point met Tuesday night to discuss ad and ticket sales for the upcoming Legends event scheduled for March 2. Finally returning home after a month-long stint away, the Green Wave welcomed the team that started their road trip - the Louisville Wildcats. On Friday December 14, West Point outlasted the Wildcats in the second half and defeated Louisville soundly 73-55.
On Tuesday night, in a rematch that was similar to the last contest between West Point and Louisville, the Green Wave started the first quarter sluggish but were soon to answer Louisville ending the quarter ahead 21-13 and never looking back. West Pointâ€™s second half effort closed out the game as the Wave won dominantly 78-49.
The Lady Wave finally returned to West Point after almost a full month on the road starting back on December 14. It was a rematch Tuesday between West Point and the Louisville Lady Wildcats, a game that the Lady Wave hoped to be more competitive in this time around. The last meeting between these two teams was a Lady Wildcat routing of West Point 72-33 back on December 14 in Louisville.
Like always, this week has been one of highs and lows for the world of sports.
