The West Point Civitan Luncheon Club was pleased to welcome Brandi Randle-Ryland, a native of West Point, to speak at Wednesday’s meeting. She graduated from West Point High School and received her Bachelor’s degree from Mississippi State University in Interior Design. She has her own home based business to help with color and fabric inovations.
Donny Weed age 75, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at Pioneer Hospital in Aberdeen.
Donald Avery Weed was born December 22, 1937. in Chickasaw County, to the late Lucy Jeanette Boyce and Andrew Melvin Weed. He was of the Baptist faith.
Funeral services are Friday, January 18, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bobby Brock officiating.   Burial will follow in Macedonia Cemetery in Houston.Â

Wednesday morning the University of Oregon had to bid farewell to possibly one of the most important head coaches the Duck football program has ever seen. Chip Kelly put Oregon onto the map as a football powerhouse and a team that could vie BCS National title on any given season. Though stating, in the past couple of weeks, he was going to stay at Oregon, Kelly decided to take up the NFL Philadelphia Eagles on their offer and make his debut in the National Football League.
You know what Carl Gibbs, Jr. really liked about his granddad David Gibbs? Getting to do all those great adventurous outdoor things together that guys, especially guys in the South, love to do. Things like riding out to the cattle farm on 4-wheelers, shooting at squirrels scampering about in the forest and just hanging out, spending quality time together – just as family should.
