Hebron continues eight-man domination with 30-0 route of Central

September 22, 2012

Hebron entered into tonight’s football game 5-0 and played host to Central Academy from Macon, Mississippi.
Coach Foster mercifully did not play his starters against a definitely weak Central Academy who had earlier in the week threatened to forfeit the game. The Eagles, though slow to start the game, finished strong in the second half winning 30-0.

Green Wave grab district win against Lake Cormorant

September 22, 2012

Friday night, the West Point High Green Wave hosted the Lake Cormorant Gators, defeating them 23-17.
Balmy and slightly chilly, the Green Wave took the field, ready to win their homecoming game. Several standout players made crucial plays in clutch situations to ensure victory by night’s end.
Mario Virges (#20) was a powerhouse for the West Point defense, along with Freddie Reed (#44), Ed Brown (#56) and Lederrius Gallion (#90) on the line. The Green Wave defense was able to really set the pace of the game, while the West Point offense was in charge of time management.

Eight turnovers doom Raiders at home

September 22, 2012

The Oak Hill Academy Raiders (3-3;1-2) offense has had its struggles thus far in 2012, but Friday night’s home match against Canton was the roughest outing yet for the team.
Eight turnovers, including seven fumbles and a lone interception, would make all the difference in a 48-15 Tiger win over the Raiders.
“You can’t turn the ball over seven times against a good team like Canton,” said head coach Daniel Merchant after the game.

Green Wave and Noxubee Review

September 17, 2012

No one who was present at Hamblin Stadium on Friday night could say that both West Point High School and Noxubee County High School didn’t play their hearts out down on McCallister Field.

Both teams came out and played their games. The Noxubee defense was impenetrable most of the night, and it certainly was when it really counted. West Point was not allowed a single point, and with the exception of the lone touchdown of the game, the Green Wave defense played virtually flawlessly, as well.

The action words for Friday night’s game were “grit” and “determination.”
