Brad Morris says that Congress has dropped the ball when it comes to helping the Middle Class and working families of Mississippi and the nation.
On Tuesday afternoon, the Democratic candidate for Congressional District One made a stop-off in West Point to speak with potential constituents about issues and make it known that if elected he intends to reverse many of the policies that he says have stagnated our economy.
“Congress is broken,” Morris said. “This particular congress has dropped the ball, and it has turned its back on Middle Class and working families.”
With just a few days left before voter registration deadline, Clay County District 4 Election Commissioner Wendy Fuller says that there should be a good turnout on November 6.
“We’re expecting an 80 percent turnout,” Fuller, who also serves as county chairperson on the election commission. “We’re getting prepared for it every day.”
Fuller says that two weeks ago, the county was as many as 500 registered voters up from the last major election. She says that number fluctuates from year-to-year due to people moving, but she says she expects that number is growing daily.
The first in a string of presidential debates is a good indicator that election day is right around the corner.
That also means that there are only a few more days to register to vote and be eligible for the November 6 election. District 4 Election Commissioner and County Chairman Wendy Fuller is encouraging everyone who has not registered to do so as soon as possible.
“The deadline is Saturday, and the courthouse will be open,” Fuller said on Tuesday morning.

West Point and Hebron move forward, Oak Hill stumbles a bit this week.
The Green Wave went on a Tiger hunt in the wilds of Hernando on Friday night. The trip yielded great results as the West Point team was able to make quick work of Hernando.
It was a rare night for the younger players on the Green Wave football team in that because the Tigers proved so tame, the second and third string players got a chance to add a more points to the victory.
Many experts say that the most important years in a child’s life are from the time of birth until the age of five.
Unfortunately, many children do not receive the nurturing and education they need to prepare them for Kindergarten and life after the age of five. That is why Excel by 5 was launched in 2004.
