Raiders hold on to beat Starkville Academy, 36-35

January 21, 2012

Although it was a low scoring game, Saturday night's regional contest between rivals Oak Hill Academy and Starkville Academy had all the makings of a Greek drama with bragging rights on the line.

In the end, it came down to clutch free throws and it was Oak Hill (15-10) who pulled off the nail biter, edging the Volunteers 36-35. The loss extended Starkville's losing streak to seven games.

Old Dominion clips Eagles, 42-39

January 21, 2012

Old Dominion’s speed and quickness proved to be a factor Friday night as Hebron dropped a heartbreaker, 42-39 at home. It was the second time this season the Eagles were trumped by Old Dominion.

“We just didn’t get into a rhythm,” head coach Tri Nason said. “Nobody was hot. That’s probably what hurt us the most, our lack of flow and rhythm on offense.”

The Eagles had the lead after the first quarter, 14-10 before they went cold on the offensive side, scoring just four points over the next eight minutes.
