Regionalism is the buzzword in the Golden Triangle today.
At their board meeting today, the Columbus Lowndes Development LINK (LINK) board members took the last vote needed to establish a formal affiliation between their organization and the West Point Clay County Community Growth Alliance (Growth Alliance).
It is a move that has been praised by many.
Maxine Hinshaw
Maxine Hinshaw, age 89, passed away, Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center, in West Point. Maxine Ada Hinshaw was born Nov. 14, 1922, in Cass County, Ind., to Cora Alice Pryor and Hobart Lewis. She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church. Maxine Hinshaw married Allen Eugene Hinshaw Aug. 25, 1938, in Monrovia, Ind., and he preceded her in death Aug. 30, 1987.
West Point could have it's first trophy of the season on the basketball court come Saturday.
The junior high girls basketball team, under the direction of six year head coach Beverly Jackson, will tipoff for the Big Six Conference championship against Starkville in Starkville. Start time is scheduled for noon. It will be the first time in recent memory the girls have chance to play for the title, and it's the first for coach Jackson.
"I wasn't aware of the accomplishment," she said. "But i'm very excited to get a chance to play for it."
