Dixie Lucille Jones Brownlee age 87, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus.
Funeral services are Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Shawn Parker officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Visitation is Saturday from 9:30 until service time, at the funeral home.
James L. âBig Jimâ Walker
James L. âBig Jimâ Walker, age 82, of Carthage passed away Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, in Jackson.
He was born Dec. 16, 1929, in Cave-in-Rock, Iii., to the late Nina Wigginton and Charles Clarence Walker. He was a tube mill operator for Blazon Flexible Flyer in West Point. He resided in West Point about 40 years then moved to Carthage. He married Melita Mae Shipp Walker who preceded him in death March 8, 1991.
Bertha Lee Brown
Bertha Lee Brown, age 82, passed away Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, in St. Louis, Mo.
Funeral services are Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at 11 a.m. from Third Mt. Olive M.B. Church, with the Rev. Al Lathan officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation is today, from 3 â 6 p.m. at Carter's Mortuary Services Chapel.

Natasha Ann Cox, age 32, passed away Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, at her home.
Funeral services are Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at 3 p.m. from Northside Christian Church, with the Rev. Orlando Richmond Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation is today, from 3 â 6 p.m. at Carter's Mortuary Services Chapel.

Oak Hill
The Lady Raiders, 17-5, bounced back from their fifth loss of the season with a pair of victories over Indianola and Marshall earlier this week as they prepare to return to Class 2AA action this weekend.
âWe played good perimeter defense,â head coach Stan Hughey said after the 45-32 win over Marshall. âWe had talked about can we duplicate what we did against Indianola. And we did better.â
