The West Point soccer program continued its regular season play on Tuesday night against New Hope.
The Lady Green Wave players fell 4-1 in the early game, and the boys dropped the second match 6-2.
Brooke Scott provided the loan goal for West point in the girls game, which was tied 1-1 going into the half. New Hope got three in the second half for the win.
â€śWeâ€™re struggling right now, but weâ€™re going to get better,â€ť said head soccer coach Keith Manning of the rebuilding program.

On Tuesday night, the Hebron Christian Lady Eagles junior high team (14-4) got back on the court for the first time in 2011.
It took the first half to shake off the rust, but they eventually overcame Winston Academy 27-20.
In the first quarter, Winston out-scored Hebron 8-2. In the second, Winston repeated for another eight points, and they held the Lady Eagles to seven.
Down by six at the half, the Lady Eagles needed some good defense in the second, and they got just that.

With Christmas shopping just behind us and some still harsh economic times, the West Point Parks and Recreation Department has extended the deadline to sign-up for youth basketball.
The current deadline is January 15, which is a week from Saturday.
Also this week, the parks department began the process of registration for the 2011 Dizzy Dean season.
That includes the youth sports of t-ball, baseball and softball.
The registration period will conclude on February 28.
Hodges, Allen Wedding
In the presence of the Lord, family and friends, Vakesha Hodges and Nathan Allen were united in Holy matrimony, on Saturday June 5, 2010 at 4â€™clock in the afternoon at Third Mount Olive M.B. Church in West Point, Miss.
The couple exchanged vows during the double ring ceremony with Pastor Leonardo Dismukes as the officiating minister.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Hodges of West Point. She is the granddaughter of Ms. Ora Bell of West Point and the late James and Jessie Collins. Paternal grandparents are the late Mr. J. B. and Rosie Lee Hodges.

With gas prices soaring, Christmas just past and an already bad economic environment, some luxuries are going to have to go.
The West Point Parks and Recreation wants to give every child and parent who wants to participate in youth sports a chance to do so, and this week they are doing that by extending the deadline to pay for youth basketball sign-up.
â€śWeâ€™re extending our basketball deadline date to accommodate people in these tough economic times,â€ť said Parks Director James Crowely on Wednesday.

The Oak Hill Academy Lady Raiders are less than a week out from playing their first district game of 2011. Already with a 3-0 record in district play, the Lady Raiders will be looking to shake off any rust that accumulated during the break, this week, at the Kirk Academy Tournament in Grenada.
â€śWeâ€™re trying to look at this tourney as a way to get back going,â€ť said Oak Hill head coach Stan Hughey on Tuesday.

Ethel Kennedy-Price, age 86, passed away Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point, Miss.
Funeral services are Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011, at New St. Peter M.B. Church in West Point, Miss., at 10 a.m. with Pastor Judias Neal officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Whites M.B. Church Cemetery in West Point, Miss.
Visitation is Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, at Carter's Mortuary Services Chapel from 2 â€“ 5 p.m.
Carter's Mortuary Services is in charge of arrangements.
Russell Carl Bird
Russell Carl Bird Sr., age 70, of West Point, passed away Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, at Waverly Care Home in West Point, Miss
He was born on July 24, 1940, to the late William H. Bird and Irma Berry Bird. Mr. Bird was a retired Receiving Clerk at Bryan Brothers Foods and Animal Control Officer for West Point. He was a member of West End Baptist Church.
Robert E. Hemphill
Robert E. Hemphill, age 88, passed away, Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, North Mississippi Medical Center, West Point. Robert E. Hemphill was born Nov. 11, 1922, in Columbus, Miss., to the late Florence Marie Stafford and Samuel Nathan Hemphill. He was a Textile Mill Operator for Fruit of the Loom for 58 years. Mr. Hemphill was a member of Garden Baptist Church in Aliceville, Ala., where he was still an active Deacon. Robert E. Hemphill married Maggie Reed Hemphill on Oct. 11, 1941, in Fayette, Ala., she preceded him in death Mar. 27, 1995.
