Several players from the West Point High School football team traveled to Scooba last week for a three-day lineman camp hosted by East Mississippi Community College.
The Green Wave have been keeping busy all summer lifting weights and doing drills in preparation for another title defense. Head coach Chris Chambless said it’s all about repetition.
“Your practicing three times a day, an hour and a half to two hours,” he explained. “That includes a lot of drill work, conditioning and lifting weights. They got worked pretty hard.”
With one swing, Mitch Bohon could do some damage.
At 6’2 210-pounds, the sophomore first baseman followed up his stellar freshman campaign with an even better second year at East Mississippi Community College.
It was enough to have four-year colleges calling, but in the end Bohon this month decided to join William Carey University in Hattiesburg.
A product of Oak Hill Academy, Bohon quickly made a good first impression, batting .311 while leading the EMCC Lions with seven home runs, 12 doubles and 33 RBI.
