John Ruble Sanders
John Ruble Sanders Sr., age 85, passed away, Sunday, May 8, 2011, at his home in West Point, Miss.
John Ruble Sanders Sr. was born Oct. 1, 1925, in Chickasaw County, Miss., to the late Daisy Clark Sanders and Frank Sanders. He was a supervisor and later an "A Fitter" for Babcock and Wilcox Company for 30 years,
Scott Hallmark, current associate principal of West Point High School's north campus, was hired Monday evening as principal for Columbus High School where he will begin July 1.
Hallmark, who holds a masters degree in Educational Leadership from Delta State University, worked for the West Point School District for 12 years and worked as an administrator for the district seven years.
After being left vacant for one year, the position of assistant superintendent/director of operations for the West Point School District was given Monday night to Rob Smith, current director of the West Point High School Career and Technology Center.
What Clay County residents and officials anticipated for days became a reality late Monday evening when the county was given a federal disaster declaration signed by United States President Barack Obama.
The much anticipated declaration came just days after a visit to Clay County from congressman Alan Nunnelee, who listened to the concerns and needs of the Clay County community, some from Montpelier, which was hit hard by the April 27 EF3 tornado. He also saw â€śfirst handâ€ť the devastation that Montpelier residents are trying to recover from and how it ripped parts of Montpelier to shreds.
