The Oak Hill Academy Raiders (6-11; 0-7) experienced another setback in district play this week, falling to Winston Academy on Tuesday night, by a score of 10-2.
Oak Hill escaped Tuesdayâ€™s game with a .471 team batting average, but defense and pitching have been the keys to success all season.
Oak hill has two district games remaining, a doubleheader with Winston tonight at home.
In Tuesday nightâ€™s game, the score was tied 1-1 going into the fourth inning, behind starter Cole Fowler. A five-run inning put Winston up 6-1.
Elizabeth Ann Kelley
Elizabeth Ann Kelley of West Point passed away Monday April 4, 2011, at NMMC-Tupelo at the age of 64.
She was born on May 7, 1946, in Choctaw County to the late Eolise Dennis and Herman Lovelace. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Maben.
29-year-old Steven McBrayer, who is on probation for aggravated assault, requested to have his $45,667.13 restitution fine reduced Tuesday in Clay County Circuit Court due to his inability to make the high monthly payments.
Darwin Scarbrough Hunt
Darwin Scarbrough Hunt, â€śMeMeâ€ť, age 80, passed away April 2, 2011 at the Oktibbeha County Medical Center in Starkville.
Darwin Scarbrough Hunt was a self employed hair dresser, enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and knitting. She was a former member of the Mississippi Hairdressers Association and Cosmetologist Association. â€śMeMeâ€ť had a way of drawing young people into her life like a foster grandmother and they became her grandchildren also.
Clardy, Barksdale engagement
Earl and Lisa Clardy of West Point, Miss.,are pleased to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Dosha Nicole Clardy, to Christopher Blake Barksdale, the son of Donald and Vickie Barksdale of New Hope, Miss., and Darla and Eddie Estes of Steens, Miss.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Sarah Shurden and the late Preston Shurden, Nicky Spencer and the late Patti Jo Spencer and Norma Clardy and the late Boyce Clardy, all of West Point, Miss.
Flynn and Thompson Honored with Shower
Michelle Flynn and Patrick Thompson were honored at a Couple's Shower on Sunday afternoon, March 20th, in the home of Claire and Robert Craig. Special guests for the occasion were Doug and Gail Thompson, (pictured on left) parents of the groom, and Carlos and Judy Flynn, (pictured on right), parents of the bride. The couple will be wed May 14, 2011, in the Chapel of Memories, Mississippi State University.
Jessie Kate Davidson
Jessie Kate Davidson, age 73, went to be with the Lord, Friday, April 1, 2011.
She was born to Levi and Amiree Reese Sims at Atlanta, Miss. She was a member of Pheba Baptist Church where she served as nursery co-ordinator, WMU Leader, sang in the choir and was in the Ella Carty Sunday School Class, and was a substitute sunday school teacher and any other job she was called to do. Mrs. Davidson was a beautician, and a restaurant manager at Shoney's. Jessie Kate Davidson married Thomas J. Davidson Aug. 8, 1955, in his parents home at Maben, Miss.
Ruby Lavonne Smith
Ruby Lavonne Smith, age 87, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2011, at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point.
The Clay County Circuit Court April term begins Monday with many cases to be heard during the term, including multiple drug charge cases, burglary cases, aggravated assault cases and the case of Robert Rupert, who is accused of killing Roosevelt Pernell and shooting Cedric Pernell.
The following cases will be heard in Clay County Circuit Court on Monday, April 4 through Wednesday, April 6:

â€˘ State v. Latrai Spraggins, who is charged with statutory rape
