The season is still early for the three area baseball teams. West Point, Oak Hill and Hebron Christian will all be participating in Spring Break baseball later this week, hoping to get better prepared for the road ahead.
That road is going to be paved with a lot of crucial district games for all three teams, but the three clubs have shown early on that they are ready to make a playoff run.
Joseph Joshua Stevens Jr.
Joseph Joshua Stevens Jr., age 71, died on March 14, 2011, after a brave battle with cancer. Joshua Stevens Jr. was born March 13, 1940, in Mobile, Ala., to Joseph J. Stevens and Anna Mae “Bootsie” Smith Stevens.
Rena Cunningham
Rena Cunningham, age 80, passed away, Saturday, March 12, 2011, at the Dugan Memorial Home, in West Point.
Rena Guest Cunningham was born Dec. 1, 1930, in Greenwood, Miss., to the late Polly Ann Mims Guest and Howard Erskins Guest. Mrs. Cunningham was a seamstress at Knickerbocker and later Big Yank for 30 years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Rena Mae Guest Cunningham was married Erle C. Cunningham, who predeceased her Nov. 8, 1974.
