West Point beats Hamilton 6-4

Already with a win on Friday night, against Columbus, the West Point Diamond Wave baseball team (4-1) returned to the field on Saturday afternoon for a match with Hamilton. The Green Wave won for the second time in as many days in a 6-4 comeback victory.
Following their 6-2 Friday night win, the Green Wave sent Leroy Calvert to the hill on Saturday. Calvert pitched a complete game, throwing seven innings, walking none. He struck out six batters, and only three of the four runs he allowed were earned.

Rip Squad Knocks Out Back-To-Back Tournaments

Kicking off their spring season, the Rip Squad 10u baseball team won back to back tournaments. They won the Hansberger Spring Fling in Pontotoc and then the 82 Challenge Spring Fling held in Philadelphia. Lann, Allen Wedding

Kirby Elizabeth Lann and Louis Brock Allen both of Aberdeen were married Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at half past one in the afternoon at Faith Presbyterian Church in Aberdeen, Miss., Rev. David Harrell officiated.
Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Walter Henley Lann III of Aberdeen, Miss. The bride is the granddaughter of Joe Edward Grissom of Aberdeen, Miss., Betty Grissom and her husband Glen Grissom of Columbus, Miss., Walter Henley Lann, Jr. and his wife, Patti Lann of Aberdeen, Miss., and the late Mary Avis Lann.

Willie and Lois Williams of Pheba, Miss., and Henry L. and Sharon Poston of West Point, Miss., are pleased to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, LaShonda S. Wooten to Tremechie Evans, son of Joseph and Barbie McDowell and William C. Bell of Starkville, Miss.

Lula Mae Bell, age 71, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Miss.
Funeral services are Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at 1 p.m. from Strong Hill M.B. Church, with the Rev. Israel Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Strong Hill M.B. Church Cemetery.
Visitation is Monday, March 14, 2011, from 3 – 6 p.m. at Carter's Mortuary Services Chapel.
Carter's Mortuary Services is in charge of arrangements.
