Green Wave to face Gentry tonight

Friday night’s district title loss to the Oxford Chargers left the West Point Green Wave disappointed all weekend. Green Wave head coach Brad Cox, however, drove one point home to his boys. They are still alive and playing basketball.
“They took the loss pretty hard because of everything they put into it this year,” Cox said on Monday. “There are a lot of teams at home though. We’re one of the few teams still playing basketball.”

Hebron girls use defense to get past Newton at State Tournament

The Hebron Christian Lady Eagles narrowly missed claiming the No. 1 seed going into the State Tournament on Monday, in a 55-54 overtime loss to Sharkey-Issaquena on Saturday.
The Hebron girls, however, got off to a good start at Benton Academy on Monday, defeating Newton Academy 46-22 to start the state tourney.
The Lady Eagles jumped out to an early four-point lead after one quarter. The offense was only able to get eight points on the board, but the defense held the Newton girls in check, with just four points.
