On Tuesday night, the West Point Green Wave (9-8; 2-0) came out flat against a fast Starkville High School basketball team. They fell behind early and could not make up ground before losing the non-district game.
On Friday, the Green Wave returned to the court, with a lot more on the line. Facing an Oxford team with a 2-0 district record, West Point could not afford to fall behind early.
They did just the opposite, dominating the Chargers in a 69-60 home victory.

Something had to give on Friday night. The West Point Lady Green Wave hoops team and the Lady Chargers of Oxford both came into the game with only two losses on the season.
West Point had a 13-game winning streak on the line, and they needed a big win in just their second district match to take over first place in the division.
The streak would not be extended and the Lady Wave experienced their first district loss of the season, falling to a tough Oxford team 72-57.

The Hebron Christian Lady Eagles (21-2; 9-0) could not dominate the Lady Rams of Immanuel, as they have others this season, on Thursday night. Hebron, however, did outlast Immanuel, claiming the district win by a 46-34 final.
Nearly four and half minutes ticked off the clock in the first period of the gam before either team was able to sink a basket. With 3:32 left on the ticker, Tori Nichols finally put in the first two points of the game on a lay-up.

The Hebron Christian Eagles (12-7; 6-3) lead the Immanuel Rams 40-37 late in Thursday night’s district road match, but the Rams were able to answer with six unanswered points to claim the 43-40 win over Hebron.
The entire night was a shootout between the two division rivals. Immanuel jumped on top with a quick two-point shot to start the night, but Will Corbin Rogers quickly answered that with two of his own.
Taylor Coggins added two more points for the Eagles to answer a shot from the Rams to make it 4-4.
