It’s going to be a battle between two greats in 5A girls basketball tonight, and it’s going to be right here in West Point. The Lady Wave (14-2; 1-0) and the Lady Chargers of Oxford High School (16-2; 2-0) are going head to head for first place in the district.
Both teams enter tonight’s play with just two losses. The West Point girls have played only one district game, a win over Saltillo on December 17. The Lady Chargers have taken care of Saltillo and New Hope to stand alone on top of the district standings.

There is a lot on the line for the West Point Green Wave (8-8; 1-0) basketball team tonight.
Hosting the first-place Oxford Chargers, West Point needs this district win to propel them into the No. 1 spot as the team gets ready for an impending playoff scenario in two weeks.
“Last year, we finished second,” said West Point head coach Brad Cox. “In our division, there’s not a lot of difference between the second and third place teams. You definitely want to go in there facing the No. 4 seeded team.”
