The West Point Green Wave basketball program is entering the twilight of the 2010-2011 regular season. With just a couple of weeks left, most of the remaining schedule will be made up of the season’s most important contests, district games.
After playing at home for the first time in a month on Tuesday night, the Green Wave teams will be back on the home court again tomorrow night to take on Oxford High School.
The West Point players and coaches know how crucial this game is.

Make it 13 in a row for the West Point Lady Green Wave (14-2; 1-0). On Tuesday night, the girls hosted the Lady Yellowjackets of Starkville High School, and though Starkville made a push in the second half, West Point held on to win the non-district game 55-46.
Starkville jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but Adrianna Billups quickly tied things up with a lay-up. Wilma Davis followed with a two-point shot.

In the two games the West Point boys lost in at the Aberdeen Tournament last weekend, they were down early, but came back playing hard in the second half. Both times the early deficits run up by Okolona and West Lowndes were too great to overcome.
On Tuesday night, the 8-8 Green Wave repeated that trend, falling behind by a large number of points to the Yellowjackets of Starkville, only to surge back in the second half, and fall in the end 71-54.
