Hebron, Lady Raiders look to stay sharp today

August 12, 2010

On Monday night, the Oak Hill Academy Lady Raiders swept into Pheba to play the Lady Eagles of Hebron on the softball diamond.
Oak Hill jumped out on top early, eventually claiming an 8-3 lead over Hebron.
Lady Eagle starter Beveley Blake gave up four two-out runs in the first inning, but the defense and pitching settled down after that, allowing Hebron to climb back in it.
After getting three in the bottom of the third, Oak Hill settled in and added four more runs over the next two innings to seal the win.

Response to the fan bus ticket offered by McClenton Tours to West Point’s week-two match in Daytona Beach, Fla. has been great, according to Marion McClenton, owner of the company.
“It has been very good,” said McClenton on Wednesday. “The people are very excited.”
McClenton first offered one of his own buses in a package deal that included the price of the bus fare, game ticket and lodging. The total price is $178.
McClenton said that his bus quickly filled up, and he went right to work leasing another, 55 passenger bus.

August 12, 2010

Note: Yesterday’s edition of the Daily Times Leader put Hebron playing its jamboree on Friday. It will be played this evening at Strider in Charleston at 5 p.m. We apologize for the error.
The Hebron Christian Eagles will be making their journey to Strider Academy tonight.
The jamboree will include four teams, and the Eagles will get to go one-on-one with two of them.
There will be a 5 p.m. match with Strider, followed by a 7 p.m. game against Bayou Academy.
“We finally get to bang on somebody else instead of each other,” said Hebron head coach Greg Watkins on Wednesday.
